ADC Third Annual Generations Gala Honors Senator Kip Bateman

Picture
On Thursday, May 30th, we honored Senator Kip Bateman, District 16, and Partner at DiFrancesco, Bateman, Coley, Yospin, Kunzman, Davis, Lehrer & Flaum, P.C. at our Third Annual Generations Gala at The Palace at Somerset Park.  Members of the community enjoyed an evening of entertainment and fine dining in support of the Center and its mission. The Gala marks the first of our two major fundraising events for the Center.  Thanks to generous donors we surpassed our goal and raised $60,000 from sponsorships, journal advertisements and ticket sales to fund our operations.

Our friend, Loren Fisher, generously donated his time and talent to put together the video below to share the work of the Center and our honoree.  Please click on the link to see the video highlighting Senator Bateman's accomplishments and contributions.

The ADC team supported the Branchburg Race Against Alzheimer's

ADC put together a team to participate in the Branchburg Race Against Alzheimer’s 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at White Oak Park in Branchburg.  The race was inspired by a Branchburg resident with Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease.  All proceeds from the race will go to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, a 501 c(3) nonprofit charity that uses all donations it receives for Alzheimer’s research.

New Road School Lends Art Work

Picture
There is a new exhibition gracing our walls that includes the work of students from the New Road School of Somerset.

For almost two years, New Road School of Somerset has been sending six students each day, Tuesday through Thursday, to assist staff members with facility maintenance, program implementation and food preparation. The students are supervised each day by a coordinator from the school.  Building on this relationship, the arts program supervisor agreed to put together some samples of her students work.  The exhibition includes thirty-eight pieces including painting, basketweave, collages and mobiles will be on view from this week until May 31st.  One of the pieces is a self-portrait by a New Road student who used to come to the ADC.

Dedicated to Preserving Dignity and Independence

The Adult Day Center of Somerset County is a nonprofit agency committed to providing high quality, affordable medical and social day care services for disabled and elderly residents of Somerset County.  Each year, many frail and disabled elderly are institutionalized prematurely or unnecessarily due to the lack of affordable quality care in our communities.

The Adult Day Center was started in 1976 in a Bound Brook church basement as a response to this problem.

It was one of the very first in New Jersey.   Over the intervening quarter century, the Center has grown under the direction of founder Jeff Macaulay, whose vision has provided the opportunity for the frail elderly to live out their lives with dignity and independence.

Thousands of individuals have been able to remain at home with their families and attend the Adult Day Center instead of being institutionalized
