A Special Community

Today, a staff of twenty devoted individuals care for the sixty people each day (one hundred different people each week) who come to the Adult Day Center, located at the PeopleCare Center on Finderne Avenue, in Bridgewater. Those attending the program are considered part of a very special community, a community of acceptance, despite disability-a compassionate community where relationships approach those of a loving family.

To further encourage the feeling of "family," all who participate at the Center are referred to as "members" - the elderly, the staff, the volunteers. And everyone is on a first-name basis. An elderly member might attend five days a week or only one, paying only for those days he or she attends. Attendance is individualized to suit the member's needs, depending on availability of space. The Center is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Transportation to and from the Center can be arranged through the Somerset County Office of Transportation.
